Located at the base of Beaver Creek Resort, the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa has 291 residential units, a spa and fitness center, full service restaurant, meeting facilities, offices and underground parking. The facility includes direct access to the Riverfront Express lift serving Beaver Creek Mountain, along with retail, and ski storage and rental. This project received LEED® Silver certification; the first Colorado hotel to achieve this status.
This project required a unique installation system that ultimately resulted in a patent for RMP’s design. Based on the understanding that the floor depth of the building needed to be shallower than typical depths for precast double tee floors, RMP designed a system that minimized floor depth by using a 10” thick rib slab plus 4” of topping for a total depth of 14”. This was achieved by designing the floor slab, beams, and column capitals to the 10” thickness which allowed for a clean structure and no dropped beams.
In addition to the successful installation of a unique system, construction in the mountains continued throughout the winter months, generally a challenge for cast in place and steel construction, by using precast.
